I wanted to write a short article on my ladder team to keep a memory of ultra series so here we go.

Lives earth power from timid groudon and ko back, also lives some other stuff like earth power from life orb ray, z lunala, multiple ice beam from kyogre and such. Speed is at 135 to creep the other mons at 134, which is the speed you need to outspeed required to outspeed the base 130 at -1 speed. Roar is a cool tech to have a xerneas answer, no matter what they think, especially if it's special groudon. And I do think roar is more useful than overheat or hp ice considering how popular xerneas is. Why do I not run a standard timid ? Because I do think this one is better for the mirror, and is faster than the physical ones anyway, in addition to that, bulk is always welcome.

252 SpA Primal Groudon Earth Power vs. 12 HP / 220 SpD Primal Groudon: 150-176 (84.7 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Lunala Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom vs. 12 HP / 220 SpD Primal Groudon: 154-183 (87 - 103.3%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

Salamence-Mega @ Salamencite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 Atk / 100 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature

- Double-Edge

156 evs atk allows you to double-edge tapu fini without proccing the berry. I do think roar is a terrible move on salamence, however, I do think having a way to deal with xerneas no matter what your field is is awesome, as they tend to geo in front of salamence, or even set up trick room. This tech has won me a lot of games.

156 Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Tapu Fini: 111-132 (62.7 - 74.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Icy Wind

- Light Screen
- Haze

The key member of the team in my opinion. Sassy is to haze after xerneas even if it took an icy wind in its switch-in. Move before the primals under trick room, which is very good against kyogre bronzong. Heal pulse and light screen gives the team more longevity, and allows groudon to be more often at full health for eruption. If you still want nature's madness, haze is probably the most removable move, but again, I think having multiple way to deal with xerneas is essential in my opinion.

+2 252 SpA Fairy Aura Xerneas Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Tapu Fini: 130-154 (73.4 - 87%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+2 252 SpA Fairy Aura Xerneas Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Tapu Fini through Light Screen: 87-103 (49.1 - 58.1%) -- 97.7% chance to 2HKO

180 evs atk in to get the most important kos at -1, like lunala bronzong and necrozma. Just enough defense to live -1 precipice blades, and enough special defense to have a good roll vs earth power necrozma. The speed is to outspeed gengar after tailwind. Low kick is the last addition, improving significantly the stakataka matchup in yvelogre.

What was an amoonguss, became a kartana. Added to improve the rayogre crobat matchup that gives the team so much trouble. Eventhough the yvelogre matchup was still in my favore with amoonguss, kartana improves it even more. Also usable against some xray when they have both tapu fini and incineroar. Enough bulk to take shadow ball from gengar, enough attack to one-shot incineroar and most of the kyogre.

252 SpA Mega Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 84 HP / 252 SpD Kartana: 121-144 (83.4 - 99.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Even if those rankings seem impressive, I recommend to not use the team, unless you want to lose. I find it very weak at the moment, considering the raise of all these xray nihilego.

Also, having good results online doesn't mean you'll have good results at tournaments. I learnt it recently at Berlin at my expense. And having good results online does not mean you are a good player, I find myself pretty mediocre.

Shoutouts to Oisiihati and some other persons who will recognize themselves.

That being said, thank you for reading.

WCS2018, Day 1

I had the chance to participate to the 2018 Pokémon Vidéo Game World Championships at day 1. Despite a poor result, I wanted to write a last article to close the VGC18 format. I finished the day one with a record of 5 wins and 4 loses which is at least not negative, though my hope of making day 2 ended at the round 6.

About the team

As I felt very comfortable with CHALK, I wanted to play something similar, but Kangaskhan didn't fit the current metagame correctly in my opinion. My japanese friend なま (nama) showed me the six, that will become my team for worlds.

I felt like Charizard was good against Lelegross and Gengar goodstuff, which was not totally wrong. The problem here is this Charizard does not hold Zen Headbutt from Metagross in psychic terrain, against which I lose in round 3. This bulk does not hold -1 Stone Edge from Landorus-T at minus 1, which is common in Gengar goodstuff. Except that the spread is useful for any other situation. But I choose to run a timid one because I expected a lot of Band or Groundium Lando and I wanted to be sure I can outspeed them. Also for Lelegross teams that only has timid Z Lele to deal with Charizard.

Band has a good synergy with Ally Switch and Helping Hand Cresselia. I opted for a fast one to speedcreep all the Pokémon that are calculated to outspeed adamant Landorus, such as Charizard and Tapu Lele. Also, band U-turn does a lot to annoying stuff like Calm Mind Latias/Cresselia. Band does KO Gengar even at minus one, which make the matchup easier.

Psychium Z is by far the best cress in kang archetypes. It improves the Gengar Kommo matchup and deals with Amoonguss in Metagross matchup. Enough speed to outspeed adamant max speed salamence. Can 2hko it if it's -spdef nature. Also 2hko non-AV Landorus. I didn't know what to choose for the last move, so I choose Ally Switch (笑). Pokémon Showdown VGC 17 team.

f:id:Alekso_poke:20170829031841p:plain

f:id:Alekso_poke:20170829032724p:plain

This team has all what you need :

-a terrain thanks to Tapu Lele, allow to removes other terrains, then reduce the dammages of Tapu Koko and Tapu Bulu, allow to use will-o-wisp on a pokémon that is protected by the misty terrain

-intimidate with Arcanine to reduce damages on a switch-in physical Pokémon to avoid getting ko'd

-a weather to remove other weathers such as rain or sun

-a slow mode with Curse-Snorlax to take advantage in the trick room

Moreover, the team has four 50% berry users, makes the team even harder to deal against.

It was the last Pokémon I choose, and actually I don't know if it's the best filler I could have choose. Tapu Koko, Xurkitree or Tapu Bulu could work in my opinion. Anyway, Tapu Lele was chosen because of it's huge amount of SpAtk, and because I needed for answer to Garchomp. It hold a Z-crystal because I didn't have any Z-move in the team. The evs spread allow Tapu Lele to survive a smart strike from jolly Kartana at -1.

Muk seems to be a good counter to the Fakepg team as it deals huge amount of damages to three Pokémon of the team, and remove eviolite from Porygon2. Muk is good, but after usage, I think it's a bit overrated. The evs spread is simple, hit as hard as possible.

Ninetales was chosen only for its move Aurora Veil. As my team has two ground weaknesses, I chosed to run with Blizzard, especially to one hit knock out the main threat of Muk, Garchomp. Disable was chosen because I feel comfortable using this move, punish choice-item, and Pokémon with only one attacking move, such as Snorlax. The evs spread allow Ninetales to hold on Horn Leech from max attack Tapu Bulu in grassy terrain and a Thunderbolt from life orb max special attack Tapu Koko.

The most Pokémon used in the format, and one of the best. As I said, I feel an intimidate user essential in a team. As the team is very weak to Celesteela, Arcanine was the only option available. Will-O-Wips was chosen to shut down physical Pokémon like Muk that threaten the team. The evs spread allow Arcanine to hang on Gigavolt Havoc from timid Tapu Koko and Earthquake from adamant Garchomp.

As the rain teams are everywhere, I needed a Pokémon to deal with it without reflection. Gastrodon is the best answer for this purpose. Clear Smog help a lot against Snorlax or PZ and Eevee. The evs spread allow Gastrodon to survive a freeze-dry from timid ninetales and take a turn of hail.

技: すてみタックル/10まんばりき/のろい

Snorlax is one the best Pokémon under trick room. As I haven't any trick room setter in the team, I ran Curse rather than Belly Drum. Snorlax is also good to deal against ground weakness Pokémon such as Nihilego that is a threat for the team. The evs spread allow Snorlax to hang on 4 sacred sword from jolly Kartana at -1 and shatterd psyche from modest Tapu Lele.

Of course some adjustment can be made following the matchup.

To conclude, this is a solid team overall but weak to Miniat 7 s 797.png and Miniat 7 s 793.png.

The other problem of this team is it has no ways of speed control like Tailwind or Trick Room.

I built this team in the aimto counter the current metagame, hope you like this short report.

BSD Razer improved team

Hi, I'm Aleik (@alekso_poke) for this first short report, I will show you the team I built with therazer456 (@RazerVGC) with which we had good ranking. Razer asked me if he wanted me to take a look at his own team.

Then we started the build with razer's base team

Sprite 6 x 282M.png  Sprite 6 x 645t.png Sprite 6 x 681p s.png Sprite 6 x 145.pngSprite 6 x 245.png Sprite 7 s 727.png

As the team had two tailwind setter, I proposed to switch Suicune by a Tapu Fini, because he married well with Incineroar and to get control of the terrain.

Gardevoir-Mega

Gardevoir-Mega @ Gardevoirite

メガ サーナイト

持ち物: サーナイトナイト

技: ハイパーボイス/サイコキネシス/トリックルーム/まもる

Very defensively trained Gardevoir, to sponge attacks with trace while copying intimidate for exemple. Trick Room setter, to surprise tailwind setter such as zapdos then take advantage of the momentum.

 Landorus-Therian

Sprite 6 x 645t.png Band. Choix.png

Landorus-Therian @ Choice Band
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
EVs: 212 HP / 116 Atk / 4 Def / 68 SpD / 108 Spe
Adamant Nature

ランドロス

持ち物: こだわりハチマキ

性格: いじっぱり

調整: 191(212)-198(116)-111(4)-112(0)-109(68)-125(108)

技: じしん/いわなだれ/とんぼがえり/ばかぢから

The strongest Pokémon in the format. Choice Band item was an idea from Razer, and I think it's a pretty cool idea ! Landorus still deals a lot of damage even at minus one attack. You two hit knock out most of the Cresselia with U-Turn, one hit knock out Kangaskhan with Superpower and deals good amount of damages on Ground and Rock Weakness.

Aegislash

Sprite 6 x 681p s.png Orbe Vie.png

持ち物: いのちのたま

性格: ひかえめ

調整: 163(220)-49(0)-171(4)-104(196)-180(76)-82(12)

技: キングシールド/シャドーボール/ラスターカノン/めざめるパワー(こおり)

Aegislash is a threat for the most popular Trick Room setter as known as Cresselia, that's why it is so popular in that BSD format. Flash Cannon is here to deal with Kangaskhan and some Tapu Bulu. Nothing more to add here.

Zapdos

Sprite 6 x 145.png Miniat Voltazélite.png

Zapdos @ Electrium Z
Ability: Static

持ち物: デンキZ

技: 10まんボルト/ねっぷう/まもる/おいかぜ

Zapdos is one the best tailwind setter in my opinion. Great counter to Kangaskhan thanks to its ability Static. The Z move one hit knock out most of the electric weakness such as Tapu Fini or Suicune. Heat Wave is a huge stop to Kartana and works against Tapu Bulu as well.

Tapu Fini

Sprite 7 s 788.png Miniat baie gowav dp.png

Tapu Fini @ Aguav Berry
Ability: Misty Surge
Level: 50
EVs: 236 HP / 92 Def / 140 SpA / 28 SpD / 12 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Protect

- Calm Mind

カプ・レヒレ

調整: 175(236)-72(0)-146(140)-154(28)-107(12)

技: まもる/ムーンフォース/だくりゅう/めいそう

Tapu is in my opinion the best Tapu in the format. He threats most used Pokémon like Landorus, Heatran, Salamence or Volcarona. Tapu Fini works well against those rain teams that are very popular. Its move are here for the coverage, nothing more to say.

Incineroar

Sprite 7 s 727.png Veste de Combat.png

Incineroar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Blaze
Level: 50
EVs: 236 HP / 116 Atk / 76 Def / 68 SpD / 12 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out

性格: いじっぱり

調整: 200(236)-165(116)-120(76)-90(0)-119(68)-82(12)

技: ねこだまし/フレアドライブ/ロロラリアット/バークアウト

Razer's CRUSH. At first side when he told me Incineroar was a really good in this metagame, I was not convinced. But when I tried it out, I was very impressed by all the works it did. Great support to Tapu Fini and Zapdos to help them to set up thanks to Fake Out. Huge stop to Cresselia, Aegislash, Heatran and Charizard-Y, Incineroar seems to be a good anti-meta call, and would be GODLIKE with Intimidate.

Most you the time, you lead with Incineroar and Tapu Fini or Zapdos. Don't need to explain why I think.

Unfortunately I can't explain all the reparts, because most of them comes from Razer himself.
